Congratulations to our three winners Moonrise, Emily and Mikey for being our finalists of the Fall/Winter 2025 Edition! They each win a gift certificate to either Michael's or Etsy!
• Best Overall - "It happened again?" by Moonrise Creates/Moonrise - Description of the artwork: Banana got tangled up in the Christmas lights and by the look on Apple's face it has probably happened before. I thought about what food is iconic but not too difficult to draw. I also wanted to do artwork that is driven heavily by shading and rendering.
Judges comments: The choice between background and character colors are in harmony and the characters are very expressive with wonderful shading. More work on the background would have added to the story but great job overall!
• Best Techique - Chocolate Cream Pie by Emily Ta -I based this character off of one of my favorite holiday desserts, chocolate cream pie.
Judges comments: Beautiful chraracter drawing with great details like proportions, clothing and hands! Would have liked to see more work on background to help tell the story.

• Best Creatitivty - Hibernating Mochi by Mikey (Bon3P4wz)- A Mochi ball (the main character) sleeps through the winter in his cave. What inspired this was a cave build in the game “Minecraft” that I made. The mochi ball is a popular food that me and my siblings eat during winter so I thought that this mango/peach flavored mochi ball would be perfect.
Judges comments: Love the cave setting and thanks paying attention to the assignment for doing a great background wth perspective! The Mochi ball is cute but we weren't sure what it was without the title. What could make a mochi ball look more like a mochi? It's a tough question! Lastly, please don't put names (real or screen) on the art! It distracts from the image's story and can effect judging.
